Branded t-shirts; how to wear them and are they worth the money?

Thanks to the resurgence of 90’s fashion, branded t-shirts have become a staple in nearly everyone’s wardrobe. However, some of them come with an inflated price tag due to the name attached to them. The question is, are they worth the money? Over the years I have collected 4 different branded t-shirts and now is the time to impart my thoughts on this subject.

Fila boyfriend logo t-shirt – £25

Since the resurgence of 90’s fashion, brands such as Fila and Champion, have seen their profits sore with their stock being sold in trendy high street shops such as Urban Outfitters and ASOS. At £25, this t-shirt is one of the cheapest options and arguably one of the best. I find the colour and fit very easy to style and personally I think this t-shirt is crying out to be paired with mom jeans and chunky trainers; I have put together a quick collage of how the outfit will look below.

Calvin Klein t-shirt – £45

Personally, I love this t-shirt; the shade of grey is perfect and worn with dark jeans, it is the perfect addition to any monochrome outfit whilst adding a twist to the basic t-shirt. However, at £45 I honestly can’t say it is worth the money when a grey cotton t-shirt on ASOS retails for £6. One idea is to do what I did and pay for this t-shirt with UO Rewards vouchers. Each time you purchase something from Urban outfitters you collect points which transpires into vouchers at the end of each year; if you save them up you can accrue a fair amount! Below I have put together an outfit which you could have a go at trying out.

Tommy Hilfiger mint green cropped t-shirt – £30

This t-shirt is a slightly different fit to the others as it has a more cropped look, whilst the others tend to be more of a boyfriend fit. However, I am still not convinced it is worth the money; the material is quite thin and doesn’t feel as a branded ‘luxury’ t-shirt should. It also seems to be the type of t-shirt that would stretch easily and lose its shape. Something you can’t tell from the picture is the red patch on the logo is actually velvet which is a nicer touch and adds a change in textures. The colour is perfect for summer and looks great with denim shorts and either sandals or some chunky trainers. I’m sure you can already think of plenty of outfits to style this with but here’s one just in case.

Fred Perry x Bella Freud t-shirt – £50

I know what you are thinking £50! Well as much as I love this t-shirt it still pains me that I paid that amount of money on a t-shirt! I am torn between my head and my heart on how to advise you on whether it is worth the money. On one hand it’s well made with good quality cotton and my usual size fitted me perfectly but on the other hand, you are essentially paying for a name pressed on the front of a standard t-shirt worth under £10. However the collaboration between Fred Perry and Bella Freud was a collaboration not to miss and I am so glad that I own a piece of fashion from two fashion giants. An idea would be to pair this t-shirt with grey mom jeans, as shown below.

Lastly, before I go I have started my own YouTube channel, mydaisystyle which focuses on styling, if you want to go over and have a look here is the link; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLI4xxcjM6HWkHmns31ZHqg .
