Considering my name is Daisy I thought it was only right that I review my perfume name sake! All through senior school and college I wore the original Daisy perfume, in fact I wore it so much I had to take a break from wearing it as I almost made myself sick of the smell. Fast forward to 2019 and once I heard the newest version, Daisy Love Eau so sweet, was available I had to give it a go; if only for nostalgia reasons.
Firstly, I love they have stayed loyal to their large iconic daisy top, it certainly is synonymous with the Marc Jacobs perfume branding. I purchased this perfume from Boots and it just so happened they were running a promotion where you get a free Daisy love tote bag, as seen in the picture above, with each purchase, so if that is something you are interested in I would highly recommend heading to Boots!
Now onto the most important part; the smell. On first impressions I was very pleasantly surprised, yes its floral and sweet but it also has musky undertones which gives it a distinctively grown up feel. The Marc Jacobs description on their website describes it as:
Sparkling white raspberries reveal a lustrous personality while a soft floral airiness and delicate musk immerse you in the sweetness of the moment. This Fresh gourmand fragrance creates an enticing atmosphere that truly embraces its name, Daisy Love Eau So Sweet.
TOP NOTES:
White Raspberry, Bergamot, Crystallised Cloudberries
HEART NOTES:
Daisy Tree Petals, Jasmin Milk
BASE NOTES:
Sugar Musk, White Iris Woods
I personally think the mix of bergamot and white raspberries is a great combination of fragrance that lends itself perfectly as both a day and evening perfume. The addition of the deeper musks makes this a great mysterious and alluring evening perfume. On the other hand, the sweet and floral tones combine to make the perfect day perfume, especially in the spring and summer months.
Well, personally I love it, and much more than I thought I would. The nice thing is I feel the brand has grown up with me, since i have left my teens and enterted my 20’s I have generally stayed away from overly sweet scents. However, this great blend of scents has reignited my love of floral scents all over again. Although perfume is a very personal choice I hope this review helped you to decided whether this perfume is for you or not. If like me you were an avid wearer of the original Daisy perfume, you won’t be disappointed with this scent, the gown up feel mixed with a healthy dose of nostalgia creates the perfect evolution from the teenager scent to a womanly scent.
