Chanel Boy Bag, is it worth the money?

Chanel Boy Bag, is it worth the money?

If you have been reading my blog for a while now you will know I am a big fan of designer handbag dupes. My view on the subject is why would you want to spend a large amount of money on a bag which may go out of style in a couple of years. If you are interested in fake handbags I will leave a link to a couple of my most popular blogposts with detailed information on some great designer dupe options!

However, for me there are some handbags I will definitely think are worth investing in and a Chanel boy bag is definitely one of them. Ever since the Boy bag was introduced in 2011 by Karl Largerfeld as an interpretation of the boyish charm that Coco Chanel was known for, I instantly knew I loved it and at some point in my life I would own one. Since its release the Chanel Boy Bag has become one of their most covetable designs and one of Chanel’s bestsellers. Well it’s no wonder it has become a classic Chanel bag; I mean look how beautiful it is!

Let’s get down to the nitty gritty details. The official specification of this bag is the small black Chanel boy bag with gold hardware in Lambskin leather. I chose the Lambskin leather as personally I prefer the overall look and finish of the bag. However, make sure you choose the right leather for you as each one provides a different level of resistance to everyday wear. Lambskin is very soft and will mark fairly easily whereas the calfskin leather tends to be harder wearing but for some people it can compromise the overall appearance of the bag. Personally, I am very overprotective of my bags so much so it was only when I took the photo below I realised I had left some of the protective packaging on the hardware!

Which size you go for depends on how much you like to carry with you day to day. The small size was perfect for me as I like my cross body bags to be on the smaller size and I only need space for my phone, wallet and keys to work as an everyday bag for me. I could genuinely wear this bag with every outfit I wear; it can be worn with a smart evening outfit or a casual T-shirt and jeans and still look stylish.

So, is it worth the money? Firstly, this question has to already assume that you are prepared to spend that amount of money on a designer handbag, because for most people no bag will ever be worth that amount of money. Right let’s continue, the look, craftsmanship and quality is second to none but most of all the style it automatically adds to any outfit is priceless. Also, if your bag is looked after and in good condition it will retain its value and as classic designer bags often do, may make you money when or if you come to sell it. To own and wear a bag as fabulous as this is worth every penny and I can’t wait to continue to style this bag for many years to come.

Here are some links to this exact bag on Vestiaire Collective as sometimes this bag can be quite hard to track down in Chanel boutiques.
