I could talk for hours on this subject but to save this blog post taking hours of your time to read I have selected the stand out products from the last couple of months.
This is the look I created using all my current favourites I talk about in this post. Keep reading for more information and don’t forget to follow this blog to keep up to date on all my new blog posts and head over to @mydaisystyle on social media to say hi!
Charlotte Tilbury – stars-in-your-eyes palette.
One of the stand out beauty products of the past few months has to be the Charlotte Tilbury Stars-in-your-eyes palette. As you would expect from Charlotte this palette is divine, blends almost instantly to a perfectly blurred line and this works beautifully with the Sigma E40 blending brush. The colours come in 4 sets of 3 and each trio is designed for a different occasion, everything from natural daytime to a more vampy evening look and for those who like a more intense smoky eye. The great thing is all 12 shadows mix perfectly together and can cater to everyone’s comfort zones. This is limited edition but last time I looked Selfridges still had some in stock! So be quick!
Hourglass – Ambient lighting palette.
This is the prefect all in one face palette, the blush, highlight and the bronzer gives you the highly desired glowy but natural look. Sometimes, like me, you might not want a harsh bronzer and if contouring can often look a bit over the top on your skin tone then this bronzer is perfect for you. It gives you just the right amount of colour to warm up your complexions and some nice subtle shadowing to shape the face. Similarly, the highlight is soft and buttery and doesn’t create an excessively powdery look, it catches the light at the right times but doesn’t create a shining beacon on your face! The blush is peachy and subtle, however, sometimes I do add a bit of brighter blush on top if I’m having photos taken of myself to add some extra colour. As you can tell I have nothing but great things to say about this palette so if this seems right up your street don’t delay in purchasing as it is often sold out due to its popularity!
Nars – Natural Radiant Long Wear Foundation.
This foundation was heavily advertised on the internet and social media when it was released but I didn’t purchase it until recently. I do have to say I love every foundation that Nars has ever released but this may be my favourite one yet. I personally find the formula is medium coverage but could easily be sheered out or layered up depending on your preference. Like with most Nars foundations the natural glow is second to none and even better the glow isn’t subdued by any powder you put on top. I use the Sigma F80 flat kabuki brush which gives a good coverage if you want a lighter coverage I would suggest a beauty blender. Lastly, the wear time is similar to most foundations on me, which is about 5 hours as I have combination to oily skin so my T- zone will need powdering. It also performs very well if you have dry skin; it glides over them nicely and the finish is amazing!
Guerlain – eyeliner in 01.
I have been searching for this eyeliner my whole life, it manages to do the impossible by being the blackest black and doesn’t fade at all during the day. Better still it doesn’t transfer to your eyelid as once applied it dries almost immediately. The versatility of this eyeliner is amazing, sometimes I will do a thin line close to the top lash line almost invisibly but adds plenty of definition and thickens up your lash line. If, on the other hand, you want a flick at the end of your eyeliner, this is the easiest eyeliner to do it with no matter how much eyeliner experience you have! It really is fool proof! It is expensive at nearly £30 but I have to say I have had the same pot for 3 years and has shown no signs of running out, so in the long run maybe it is cost effective.
Mac – Eye Kohl Costa Riche.
Once upon a time I religiously wore only black kohl and it was only until I discovered this deep brown Mac kohl did I realise how much more complimentary this was on my eyes than the stark black. I found it very easy to overdo it with the black kohl but with the brown you can’t put too much on; it adds the perfect amount of definition and smoky effect! This Mac kohl in Costa Riche is so buttery and easy to apply I urge everyone to at least try this pencil out!
Ouai – hair oil.
This hair oil is by far the best I have ever used, I personally find it outperforms even the top brands such as L’Oréal and Davines. The Ouai company was founded by Jen Atkin who is the hairstylist to the Kardashian and Jenner family and I can honestly say she has managed to perfect this formula. It is nourishing but not overly thick so it weighs down the hair, I apply a small pump of this to the end of each section of hair when blow drying and it gives the perfect finish!
Dyson – supersonic hairdryer.
I resisted buying this for a long time but when my old faithful hairdryer stopped working and was beyond repair I took the plunge. Firstly, we can’t go any further without mentioning the price. £299. Yes I know, but after using it for a year I can put forward some persuasive points to justify the price. Firstly, it really does make a difference to the finish of your hair, it leaves your hair smooth, controlled and sleek. Secondly, it actually really does minimise frizz, I tend to have frizzy hair on the underside of my hair but this keeps it in check. I really could go on about this hairdryer for hours but for your sanity I will make this my last point. Noise, well it doesn’t really make any, personally I like to listen to music while doing the laborious task of drying my hair and with this hairdryer you can actually hear the music! I completely understand that for some people you may never be able to justify the price but for my long hair this really is a lifesaver.
Hope this helps you navigate the beauty world a bit better! See you soon!
